Description of module content:

Theories of psychological development (Psychodynamic; attachment; social learning; cognitive). Theoretical approaches to assessment, of young people's mental health. Involving families and carers. Mental health problems experienced by children and young people.

Learning Outcomes for module:

LO1: Compare and contrast different theoretical approaches to psychological development.
LO2: Identify the key factors in the assessment of a child or young person's mental health.
LO3. Provide a rationale for the use of evidence-based practice in children and young people's mental health.
LO4. Critically reflect on how a recovery focus can be used with children and young people.
LO5. Determine the prevalence, vulnerability and resilience factors and treatment of a particular mental health problem occurring in children and young people.
LO6 Prepare and deliver a group oral presentation on young people's psychological development
