This module will provide you with the opportunity as a senior student midwife, to practice with increasing independence in the provision of maternity care. You will gain confidence, competence and become independent in the performance of midwifery skills when caring for childbearing women, people and their families, with minimal supervision required by a midwife. You will also demonstrate independence in midwifery practice by managing your own caseload of women/people. You will work effectively as a member of the multidisciplinary team and in partnership with women and their families. While the university has set NESH hours as per this descriptor, the NMC has a requirement that you will work a minimum number of hours per placement. In this case you will work full-time hours in clinical practice (an average of 37.5 hours per week).
