Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Critically explore the anatomy and pathophysiology of specific medical complications which may affect childbearing women or birthing people and newborn infants.

LO2: Analyse the principles of care using a problem-solving approach when supporting women or birthing people and newborn infants with complex needs.

LO3: Critically review the role of the midwife in the provision of care for women or birthing people and newborn infants when complications arise.

LO4: Provide a justification for referring women or birthing persons and newborn infants to other health or social care professionals.

LO5: Critically evaluate the evidence base in relation to complex obstetric and midwifery care.
