Music HNC; piano or keyboard to Grade IV-V standard

This module provides you with the foundational skills necessary to direct and accompany choirs in a way that will support the future development of your career. The conducting and directing skills you will learn will be applicable to any genre of music. You will have the option of choosing to specialise in classical figured bass and keyboard harmony studies, or in the realisation of a lead sheet in the accompaniment of a choir.

LO1: Develop insight into the basics of creating a musical interpretation through direction;

LO2: Convert understanding of a musical score into the control of gestures to cue and lead a choir;

LO3: Give examples of an accompaniment appropriate for a specific choir performance;

LO4: Utilise a problem-solving approach to ensemble issues in specific choir types and genres.
