Description of module content:

The classes will explore a selection of standard and non-standard repertoire from the broader spectrum of what may be included within the jazz genre; the application of personal culture and skill-sets; individualised approaches to performance; free improvisation; creative approaches to composition and arranging.

Learning Outcomes for module:

Upon completion of this module, you will be able to:

LO1: Compose, arrange and improvise within a locally framed understanding of jazz cultures
LO2. Consolidate and extend theoretical concepts from Jazz 1 and Jazz 2 modules
LO3: Comprehend and deploy idiomatic phrasing, melodic and rhythmic development
