Description of module content:

This module will examine contemporary sexual health issues from a health and social care perspective with a particular focus on what the implications are for service provision. Public health and inequalities in health will be addressed as well as the societal changes which have formed and now challenge traditional norms in relation to sexuality and gender. Personal values and attitudes around sexuality will be discussed as well as the importance of integrating respect and understanding of diversity into practice. The role of popular culture on values and attitudes around sexuality will be explored alongside global cultural variances. In addition to this, the psychological and emotional impact on sexual wellbeing will be examined.
