Description of module content:

Critical Reflection; Good Clinical Practice guidelines; Research Governance; Research and Development support; Ethical considerations in clinical research; Ethical and managerial approval; Data management; Informed consent; Communications skills; Exploration of issues related to professional roles in clinical research.

The online element of the delivery includes searching, locating and reviewing the literature, the reflective cycle, ethical dilemmas and informed consent.

Learning Outcomes for module:

LO1: Analyse the relationship between the theoretical aspects of the professional roles in clinical research and recognise its practical application
LO2: Utilise a problem solving approach with peers and healthcare professionals regarding the major elements of the practical management of clinical research
LO3: Synthesise the theoretical aspects of clinical research and relate these to evidence of adherence to national and international standards in clinical research practice
LO4: Analyse the importance of working within a team in clinical research
