Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) Approach: |
This module will use a learner-centred, blended approach, to learning, teaching and assessment. The LTA approach uses a variety of methods: Powerpoint presentations, case studies to explore leadership theories in contextualised scenarios, mini case study activities and exercises in preparing financial information, group discussion to foster engagement and understanding and to promote further analysis and independent investigation into the topics covered. Support materials and on-line support will be provided through Moodle. Tutorials will be provided in a variety of ways such as part of the initial workshop and through on-line discussion facilitated through Moodle (LO 1-5). The teaching and learning activities are designed to support and equip you to understand the theories of leadership as they are applied in different contexts and to explore the effectiveness of specific models in the context of the public sector (LO 1, 2 & 4). Additionally, case studies and exemplars will be used to help you to be able to analyse and produce a financial report/proposal, for your organisation, which draws on a number of financial and management accounting tools, techniques and reports (LO 3, 4 & 5).
|
An important element of the module is for you to reflect on your learning and relate it to prior or current work experience. You are encouraged to identify key skills and knowledge gained and to relate these to your personal and professional development throughout the module and in week 7 you will have the opportunity to submit a 500 word draft essay which considers the theories of leadership and how these apply these to you and your organisation. Feedback will be provided on your draft and this work will contribute your summative critical reflective essay to be submitted in week 14. You will also prepare basic financial accounting statements and interpret these in the initial workshop and will be given feedback on these to inform your summative assessment which will be submitted in week 14.
