Description of module content:

This module is suitable for all registered healthcare practitioners as an ideal foundation module to prepare for advanced clinical practice, health assessment and management of patients across the life course.

Throughout, you will examine the human body with attention to how each system works, normal anatomy and physiology. There will be opportunities for you to examine the pathophysiology of common disease and/or illness whilst applying this knowledge to advanced clinical decision making related to care of the patient across the life course.

A range of key topics will be explored including (but not limited too), physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and genetics.

Learning Outcomes for module:

LO1: Critically examine anatomical and physiological features of the human body across the life course.
LO2: Appraise basic disease principles which might affect the human body across the life course.
LO3: Evaluate fundamental concepts and processes related to genetics and inherited disease demonstrating an understanding of the clinical consequences.
LO4: Synthesise knowledge of biosciences across the life course to inform advanced decision making related to clinical care.
