Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) Approach:
To meet the learning outcomes (1-4) this module s delivered using a variety of teaching and learning strategies which include, learning materials and activities - to engage with the learner online, peer and tutor led discussion forums, self assessment quiz at the end of each learning unit and use of virtual office hours for students to ask questions in real time. 10 learning units that the student will work through - self directed learning (LO 1-4). Learning materials focus on the understanding of concepts and principles that underpin clinical governance and improvement practice (LO3). Placing these in a policy context at a UK and International Level (LO1) and thinking analytically about how these apply in health and social care settings (LO3-4). Learning materials allow students to critically analyse how the principles of clinical governance can be applied to practice through team working and integrated health and social care systems (LO4).

Formative Assessment:
Students will be asked to complete a template (1000 words) from which they will be given feedback to help develop their final summative assignment.

Description of module content:

Explore the evolution of principles of clinical governance and the quality improvement agenda at both the UK and International Level. Exploration, analysis and synthesis of the principles and policies relating to quality assurance, clinical effectiveness, theories and measures, clinical governance, evidence based practice and the role clinical guidelines, clinical standards, integrated care pathways and best practice statements, user involvement, monitoring the quality of care, teamwork, accountability and reflective activities which are designed to challenge assumptions and promote learning. To critically examine and analyse current issues related to health and social care practice.
