Description of module content:

During this module, you will have the opportunity to explore a series of core topics, broadly encompassing the following; anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, advanced skills of holistic patient assessment across the life course (as appropriate), consultation, clinical decision making with reference to evidenced based practice.

You will be guided through the key principles of history taking and examination, adopting a body systems approach, whilst considering the needs of diverse population groups. In addition, you will explore common illness and/or disease presentations including their pathophysiology, treatments and diagnostics, again considering the needs of diverse population groups.

Learning Outcomes for module:

LO1: Demonstrate advanced knowledge, skills and expertise in completing a patient assessment considering the needs of patients and families where appropriate.

LO2: Critically examine physiological and pathophysiological features of the human body.

LO3. Critically analyse the patient history, clinical examination findings, and diagnostic information to develop a working and differential diagnosis.

LO4: Synthesise knowledge of biosciences across the life course to inform advanced decision making related to clinical care.

LO5: Appraise relevant contemporary evidence and research to inform clinical decision making.

LO6: Critically reflect on the development of clinical experience and new knowledge gained through practice experience.
