Description of module content:

This practice module will develop your ability to conduct patient/service user observations and participate in assessment, delivery and evaluation of compassionate patient care within a range of health and social care settings. You will reflect on how health and social care standards and policies are used in practice to improve care within your practice learning experience. In collaboration with Practice Supervisors/ Assessors you will identify local health principles and priorities and recognise major causes and social determinants of health.Through simulation clinical skills sessions, online and work-based learning you will, under supervision, engage in a range of skills, and observe and participate in the assessment, delivery and evaluation of compassionate care as part of the inter-professional team within health and social care settings.You will work with patients and carers in a relationship-focused way that reflects a professional commitment to equality and diversity working in collaboration with members of the health and social care team to provide carer for individuals and their families. You will develop skills commensurate with Part One of the BN programme that emphasise effective communication, compassionate partnership working. At each stage you will be supported and assessed by suitably trained professionals based on skills and proficiencies outlined in your Practice Assessment Document (PAD).
Learning Outcomes for module:

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Gain an appreciation of local health and care practices, policies and procedures and consider their impact on social determinants and addressing strengths and weaknesses in minimising health and inequalities in health and illness.

LO2: Identify and demonstrate the importance of developing the knowledge and skills required in nursing practice to enhance decision-making to promote health and well-being of individuals and families across the lifespan.

LO3: Develop communication, relationship management and procedural skills applied in a holistic, non-judgemental, caring, sensitive and accessible manner.

LO4: Recognise the role of others who work in health and social care settings and collaborate with them to promote safe, individualised care.

Face To Face Practical classes and workshops 40 Practical classes and workshops within the simulation and clinical skills centre, addressing Annexes A&B of NMC standards. Skills are taught over 2 trimesters.
Other PLACEMENT 145 Practice learning experiences within clinical settings - student will be assessed against learning outcomes and demonstrate achievement of platforms as per NMC standards 20 credit modules incorporate 200 notional study hours, however to meet NMC requirements this module requires you to undertake 280 hours gaining practice learning experience within clinical setting
