Description of module content:

This practice module will develop your practice proficiency commensurate with Part 2 of the BN programme.


This will involve demonstration an increase range of communication, relationship management and procedural skills and an ability to analyse and utilise evidence to inform clinical decision-making.

You will develop and demonstrate an increasing ability to work autonomously and coordinate care within the context of the wider health and social care team.

You will also demonstrate developing clinical leadership proficiency as you care for those with altered care needs offering support and guidance to other health and care staff.

At each stage you will be supported and assessed by suitably trained professionals based on skills and proficiencies outlined in your Practice Assessment Document (PAD).

Learning Outcomes for module:

LO 1: Develop insight and demonstrate safe, effective and person-centred nurse care within your field of practice
LO2: Utilise a problem-solving approach to deliver evidence-based nursing care and begin to practice autonomously in care delivery in health and social care settings.
LO 3: Demonstrate an ability to coordinate care as a member of an inter-professional team
LO4: Enhance your clinical leadership and decision-making skills, required to care and support people with altered health needs.

Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) Approach:
Simulation and Clinical skills 152 Hours

Formative Assessment:
Students will have formative assessment of their progress against NMC proficiencies and platforms around the mid-point of their practice learning experience.
Students will receive verbal and written feedback from practice assessors and supervisors.


Summative Assessment:
The summative assessment will involve verbal feedback and completion of the appropriate part of the practice assessment document at the end the practice learning experience by the Practice Assessor in liaison with the Academic Assessor. Student achievement will be measured through achievement of NMC proficiencies.
