Description of module content:

On this module you will explore the principles of the following topic areas that will be explored in the context of your area of nursing: Clinical Leadership; Clinical Governance; Patient Safety, Change Management and Risk Management. You will also explore partnership and team working and the associated essential communications skills that support effective leadership and effective partnerships. Management style and leadership qualities that are effective in health and social care settings will be discussed and theoretical aspects applied and explored in the context of your practice experience.
Learning Outcomes for module:

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Examine the relationship between leadership and management styles in healthcare.

LO2: Evaluate patient safety initiatives within the context of health.

LO3: Demonstrate an understanding of behaviours and roles associated with effective communication styles to support effective partnership working.

LO4: Evaluate current evidence which informs local and national policy and legislation within healthcare.

LO5: Determine global, political and policy issues relating to leadership in health.
