Description of module content:

This module will introduce you to the following topic areas, which you will explore in the context of your area of nursing: Clinical Leadership; Clinical Governance and Change Management. You will explore partnership and team working, and critique effective leadership in contemporary healthcare practice. There will be opportunities to consider the role of the nurse leader in relation to teaching and learning, inter-professional education, clinical support, and supervision. You will consider leadership styles and qualities that are effective in supporting change within the complexity of healthcare settings, and explore theoretical aspects of leadership in the context of your practice. Reflective skills will be explored, and these skills will be used to explore the impact of leadership and change management within your clinical practice.

Independent Learning Lecture 10 The teaching approach for this module is fully online. The teaching activities will include weekly scheduled online lectures (week 1-12: recorded for asynchronous learning) in which the focus will be on: leadership theories, leadership styles, quality improvement, and the use of change management tools and reflective practice, to create, and evaluate, high-quality sustainable change, within your healthcare practice (LO 1, 2, 3 & 4).
Independent Learning Tutorial 10 To support your learning journey, the teaching schedule will include online (0.5 hour) interactive tutorials which will occur weekly immediately following each lecture (week 1-12: recorded for asynchronous learning) in which lecturers and students can further explore key concepts (LO 1, 2, 3 & 4). In addition, to tutorial sessions, there will also be open office hours scheduled throughout the trimester to provide you additional opportunity to discuss key concepts and seek individualised support.
Online Guided independent study 180 The Moodle VLE platform will be used to support your guided independent study (weekly schedule) and unit activities will guide you through he module in a structured manner. These will include online learning materials, podcasts, quizzes, scenario work and multi-media resources, that encourage your engagement, through a discursive and interactive approach to learning. In addition, group forums will help consolidate your learning and facilitate an opportunity for peer-peer feedback.

Essay 100 1~2~3~4 Week 13 , WORDS= 2500 A summative portfolio has been designed which comprises of two elements of assessment.Element 1: is a 2000-word report which critiques one leadership theory in relation to implementing a change idea within clinical practice. This assessment provides students with the opportunity to analyse how leadership influences the implementation of quality improvement in practice and consider effective leadership styles in the context of change. (LO 1, 2 & 3).Element 2: is a 500-word reflection on leadership within the context of healthcare, and allows students to consider how this learning will influence their professional practice (LO 4).
