Description of module content:

This module will provide you with the opportunity to learn about the different types of evidence that may be used to inform clinical practice. Specifically, you will explore different approaches to undertaking the research process, research methods and will have the opportunity to develop your skills to critique research and its relevance to practice. You will reflect on the ethical and professional implications of research and you will also consider factors which promote or hinder the implementation of evidence to practice. After completion of this module you will have the knowledge and skills to be able to understand the research process, appraise evidence and evaluate its appropriateness for implementation in your practice.

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Compare and contrast different types of evidence.

LO2: Demonstrate a critical understanding of the research process including interpretation of statistical analysis and qualitative data analysis.

Face To Face Lecture 19.5 In person lectures will allow you to explore and apply theory introduced during the lectures to consolidate your knowledge and understanding.
Face To Face Tutorial 39 Tutorials will be lecturer facilitated and will allow you to explore and apply theory introduced during the lectures to consolidate your knowledge and understanding. The majority of the discussion will be student-led. You will have the opportunity to attend academic skills session and briefing on formative and summative assessment during the tutorials.
Online Guided independent study 102.5 Throughout the trimester, you are expected to structure in time to reflect upon the learning in the scheduled sessions and to complete the essential reading. You are encouraged to read more widely around the topics you are studying and engage in the activities and resources on the learning platform. You will need to ensure that you have sufficient time to prepare and plan for assessment tasks.

Poster 100 1~2~3~4~5 Week 13 , WORDS= 1500 words For summative assessment, you will be asked to create a poster which consists of 3 main sections making up 1500 words (or equivalent). You will be asked to:1) Describe of a challenge you experienced in clinical practice that you would like to address through research.2) Develop a research question, propose a project plan to answer this research question, and state the ethical considerations. 3) Determine how the results from the proposed project would be shared and implemented within the clinical area and more widely.
