Description of module content:

You will focus on individuals and groups in relation to their work. You will look at the contribution psychology can make to achieving ‘best fit' between people and their jobs, thereby to enhance productivity, satisfaction and well-being at work. You will explore four main areas of work psychology in depth: selection and assessment at work, stress and wellbeing, work motivation and leadership.
Learning Outcomes for module:

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Apply psychological theory to the workplace and explore the challenges in applying research evidence to support work psychology solutions.

LO2: Compare and contrast approaches to personnel selection and evaluate the effectiveness of psychological assessment tools in a selection context.

LO3: Critically reflect on theories of stress at work and associated workplace interventions.

LO4: Compare and contrast theories of work motivation and discuss their implications for the individual and the work organisation.

LO5: Critically compare approaches to leadership and their impact within the workplace.

Face To Face Seminar 33 Seminars will cover a range of topics of Work Psychology such as Selection and Assessment, Motivation, and Well-Being. They will also consist of group discussions of case studies and journal articles.
Online Guided independent study 167 You will be required to do independent reading on topics covered throughout the module. There will be certain required reading that you will have to do, but you will also need to source appropriate journal articles and case studies to read each week.

Class Test 30 1~2~3~4~5 Week 13 HOURS= 60 minutes This class test that will draw on lectures, tutorials, and required readings. You will answer multiple choice and short open-ended questions. The test will assess your knowledge of the key concepts explored throughout the module.
