Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) Approach: |
Where appropriate students own workplace experiences will be used in discussion so that the learning tasks are personalised. A combination of face to face lecturing, tutorials, online resources and supplied reading pack will provide the core learning material. Real life examples of workplace issues will be used to illustrate teaching and students will be asked actively to identify how the concepts and models studied apply to their own experience of work. Students will engage in weekly group discussions of case materials to allow the emphasis on collaborative learning to be maintained throughout the module.Online learning opportunities will provide the material for topics on the design of work environments and the design of work.
Frequent formative assessment will be available through case study/applied problem based learning exercises that will be discussed in groups. Students will be expected to provide examples from their personal experience and comment on those of others in small group discussionsStudents will be able to practice online test type questions throughout the module and specifically to practice for the test itself. This will enable students to gain formative feedback for the final test.
The first summative assessment (A1)is a 2000 word report due in week 8. The report is based on an applied business case study in selection and covers LO1 & LO2 specifically. The second summative assessment (A2) covers LO1-LO5. LO1 and LO2 are covered in A1. This is because LO1 is a generic outcome which covers the application of knowledge to the field. LO2 is assessed in both due to the fundamental nature of selection to the field and to allow alternative models to that used for the report at A1 to be assessed. This assessment is an online class test. The test will take place over Weeks 12-14.
