Description of module content:

Planning a training programme, periodisation & profiling; macro and micro cycles. The training principles - progressive overload, specificity, recovery, reversibility, adaptability, monitoring, variation, individual differences; frequency, intensity, duration, type. Introduction to analysis of sport, Fitness and Fitness testing. The principles of training methods for each component of fitness including: flexibility (passive and active stretching), agility, strength (types of resistance training, repetitions/sets combinations), power, muscular endurance & cardiovascular endurance training, speed training. Analysing improving skill & technique.

Practical Skills Assessment 50 1~2 Week 13 HOURS= 30 minutes Practical Skills Assessment - Each candidate will be marked on their competency in demonstrating how to conduct a Field Based Test on a student subject during a 30 minute presentation.Students will be assessed on 3 of a possible 8 categories chosen randomly. Candidates will also be graded on their ability to communicate and effectively explain the tests selected.
Oral Presentation 50 1~2~3 Week 12 HOURS= 10 minutes Oral PresentationA 10 minute presentation using data gathered from a group member during practicals and utilised as the subject athlete.Individual students will anonymously provide a peer mark for all group members. The collective peer score will determine their share of the presentation group grade for the presentation.
