Description of module content:

On this module you will develop an understanding of the role of the performance analyst and an appreciation of what performance is, what factors can be measured and how to develop a valid and reliable analysis system for football performance. Over the course of the module you will explore how to identify and develop key performance indicators with operational definitions to analyse critical factors that impact upon team performance. In addition, you will learn how to undertake notational analysis and consider during and post-match individual and team performance analysis with a view to evaluating and presenting the data in the most coherent and effective way.

Face To Face Lecture 22 Lectures will be held every week for this module, and be tutor-led. There is a strong practical component on this module, however theoretical content will be delivered throughout these activities.
Face To Face Practical classes and workshops 12 There is a strong practical component to this module, with practical classes being held every 2nd week. During these workshop style activities you will learn to develop, apply and evaluate key performance indicators used within analysis and football coaching.
Online Guided independent study 156 As there is a strong practical component to this module you will be expected to develop your analysis skills in small groups and individually throughout the module. In order to develop your skills you will be asked to undertake small tasks throughout the module which will be used for discussion points in the practical sessions.
Online Guided independent study 10 In order to develop your skills in applied practice, you will also attend a live match and analyse the team performance. As part of this you will analyse post-match footage that will be provided to you. The outcomes of these activities will be used for in-class discussion and to develop understanding of key concepts.

Report 60 1~2~3 Week 13 , WORDS= 1500 words For your first assessment you will be expected to analyse a live match. Footage will be provided for you, however you will have some choice of the team (home vs opposition analysis). You will be expected to analyse team performances from the match footage and produce a report. Preparation for this assessment will be delivered through lectures/practicals and independent study.
Oral Presentation 40 4 Exam Period HOURS= 15 min This will be an in-person presentation and question & answer session and will last 15 minutes in total. This will broken down into a 10-minute presentation of the main findings of your report and recommendations for applied practice, followed by a 5-minute question and answer session that will based on your presentation and recommendations.
