| Face To Face | Lecture | 22 | Lectures will be held on a weekly basis, be 2 hours long. Lectures will be lecturer-facilitated but will allow you to explore and apply theory introduced through in-class discussion. The majority of the discussion will be student-led and happen within small groups of around 5-6 students in a group. To get full benefit from the lectures and to support other students, you are expected to come prepared to get involved in discussion. |
| Face To Face | Tutorial | 12 | In week 1 you will be assigned a group. The group you have been assigned to will determine your tutorial time slot. Tutorials will be held bi-weekly and last 2 hours. Activities in the tutorials will introduce you to topics aligned to your two assignments. |

As such, assignment 1 focuses on randomly assigning you to a group of 4-5 peers. You will be expected to work together to produce a report on creating an effective coaching environment. As part of preparing for the assignment you will be asked to present in your group at which time you will receive formative feedback. |

As part of your role as coach you will be expected to work and lead others in creating an environment that will develop talent but also motivate them to perform to the best of their abilities. As such the purpose of this group assignment is to combine not only working with others to successfully complete a task, but to engage with the theoretical approaches to creating the optimal environment for individuals to thrive in football. As a group you are required to produce a portfolio of work 2500 words long. The work should include the following sections, with the expectation of engaging with the required literature to back up your approach.1. An introduction to the environment2. Explanation of environment to be created3. The culture/ethos and behaviours 4. The required leader behaviours to establish the environment 5. Reflection on group interactions in completing the task |

As such, this reflective essay provides you with an opportunity to reflect not only on your perceptions and interpretations of leadership theory and apply these on a personal level, but it also provides an opportunity to reflect on your role within the group assignment.You are required to produce an essay 1500 words long. It is not a requirement for this reflective essay to be framed using a reflective model. The use of āIā should be minimised. It is important to use theoretical reference within the essay, by referring to theoretical approaches when reflecting. |
