Description of module content:

Over the course of the module you will distinguish between the roles of leadership and management in a professional context. You will explore and be introduced to different leadership approaches with a view to understanding the importance of behavior and context to becoming an effective leader. You will consider a range of leadership abilities, skills and important elements (such as establishing an effective culture and managing conflict) associated with leading or working as part of a team. In addition, you will have the opportunity to develop an awareness of your own leadership and management skills and capabilities.
Learning Outcomes for module:

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Develop an understanding and awareness of key leadership theories and management practices

LO2: Explore and identify a range of leadership approaches contributing to the development and effective management of a team

LO3: Analyse the dynamics associated with effective team function, such as roles within the team, conflict management and establishing an effective culture

LO4: Identify, develop and reflect upon personal leadership skills.
