Description of module content:

Over the course of this module, you will develop an appreciation of the principles and the process of coaching aligned to the Scottish FA level 2 coach accreditation process and UEFA B coaching qualification. This module will not only enable you to plan and deliver coaching sessions for youth and adult players but it will allow you to apply theory to practice and analyse and assess your own performance as a coach. You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge across the laws of the game and systems of play. During this module you will complete the complete UEFA B-licence. You must meet the standards set by the Scottish FA and the UEFA conventions in respect to the awards requirements in order to be awarded the licence and progress to the next stage of study.

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Recognise and understand the importance of developing a contextually appropriate and robust coaching philosophy.

LO2: Apply the knowledge and skills to plan and implement structured coaching sessions that demonstrates an understanding of the underpinning coaching theory.

LO3: Demonstrate a critical understanding of designing, and assessing practices, and identify areas for technical and tactical improvement for both individuals and the team within practices.

LO4: Demonstrate an understanding of planning and delivering sessions appropriate to the age and level of players.

LO5: Critically evaluate coaching practice.

LO6: Engage with and satisfactory complete the UEFA B licence and the standards set by the Scottish FA and the UEFA conventions in respect to the awards requirements.

Face To Face Lecture 24 The lectures will be focused on the key topics and theories from a holistic perspective related to youth football coaching.
Face To Face Tutorial 30 Tutorials led either by ENU staff members or SFA tutors to facilitate the learning experience of students by promoting reflection. It will also allow students to discuss the assessment tasks and will involve peer to peer feedback while supporting all students in an individualised manner. The purpose of the tutorials is to complement the learning experience associated both with the practical and theoretical elements of the module.
Face To Face Practical classes and workshops 54 On-pitch practical sessions led by the SFA tutors focused on the practical element of the module (i.e., UEFA B Youth licence)
Other Work based learning 15 Structure and delivery of coaching sessions according to the UEFA B Youth objectives with youth football players outside the university.
Online Guided independent study 277 You are expected to reflect upon the learning you have undertaken in your sessions to complete your essential reading. You are encouraged to read more widely around the topics you are studying and engage in Moodle activities and resources.

Report 50 2~3~4~5 Week 15 , WORDS= 1500 words A report of the observation and interview with an experiences consisted of analysis of the findings and reflections related to the coaching practice.The mark you achieve for this component of assessment will form your overall module grade (based on your presentation and report). However, you must pass both components of assessment in order to achieve an overall pass for this module.
Oral Presentation 50 1~3~4~5 Week 12 HOURS= 0.5 hours An observation of a coaching sessions followed by an interview with an experienced coach working in youth football.The mark you achieve for this component of assessment will form your overall module grade (based on your presentation and report). However, you must pass both components of assessment in order to achieve an overall pass for this module.
Practical Skills Assessment 0 2~3~4~6 Week 12 HOURS= 0.3 hours You will have to submit a portfolio consisting of a number of tasks and the observation of a practical session according to the UEFA B Youth objectives. This component of assessment is graded on a pass or fail basis. You must pass this component of assessment in order to achieve an overall pass for this module and progress to the next stage of study
