This module will be taught in a blended format, including both face-to-face and online content. Face-to-face delivery will be in the form of workshops and include both tutor and peer-led discussions. You will be introduced to contemporary academic literature and theoretical concepts relating to the leadership and management in sport (LO1 +2). Active learning experiences (i.e. peer observations) will also be facilitated within these workshops (LO3). The online delivery will support practitioners on an individual basis throughout the course of the module, as well as offer content relevant for the group as a whole (i.e. theoretical models of leadership, LO4). The module will also aim to develop online communities of students to discuss and share experiences. As part of the formal assessment a project will be developed to conceptualise the work to be addressed and how the project will be undertaken by reflecting on the appropriate theoretical models (LO 1, 2 and 3). Finally, a portfolio of evidence will be developed to demonstrate reflection on their practice and evidence of effective engagement with the learning process (LO1, 2, 3 & 4).

The Learning Agreement will form a formative assessment for this module, to be completed by week 3 and will outline your learning outcomes. This will be delivered via a 5-10 minute presentation and will receive tutor and peer feedback.The objective of this exercise is to provide alignment between your personal learning outcomes and the module learning outcomes. Additional formative evaluation of communication effectiveness will occur throughout the module.

Component 1: You will be required to deliver a 20 minute oral presentation, followed by a 10 minute question and answer session. The subject of the presentation will involve leading on and establishing an effective performance culture within your chosen team. Submission and presentation will be in week 14. Component 2: You will be required to give an individual 2000 word reflective essay. The aim of the essay is for you to reflect on and account of your own personal leadership and management skills. Submission will be in week 15
