Description of module content:

Within this module, students will review primary scientific literature on an agreed topic within the broad spectrum of Sport and Exercise Sciences, Physical Activity and Health and Sports Coaching. Students will develop a literature review in this area and under the guidance of an allocated supervisor, identify, and critically evaluate ethical issues that are pertinent to the topic.

Students will conduct the review utilising electronic databases and will present, via written submission, their review and ethics. Potentially conflicting and supportive evidence will be contained within this work with a critical appraisal and supported summation included.

Correct and proper referencing, utilising Harvard referencing and an identified journal writing format style will be mandated throughout.

LO1: Search, compare and evaluate primary literature and scientific publications for critical review.
LO2: Examine scientific argument, formulate and present a balanced argument and summation
LO3: Identify, synthesise and evaluate ethical issues pertinent in the topic area
LO4: Critically evaluate these issues and formulate potential solutions as applied to the topic area
LO5: Develop skills in selecting and using statistical techniques in data analysis
