Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) Approach: |
This is a blended module where you will engage in a number of face to face activities, interact with academics and employers and spend time on a work placement. At the beginning of the module you will work together with the module leader, academic supervisors and employers to develop your learning agreements while researching policy and practice and making introductory visits to the placement sites. Online support will be available on Moodle with access to materials and resources to facilitate learning and use of critical thinking, analysis and reflection. These will include tools and examples of evidence for inclusion in the portfolio. This will help you to reflect on how educational experience relates to your work experience. You will be supported in developing and implementing your learning agreement by an academic supervisor and you will submit a learning agreement in week 4 to allow up to 10 weeks of work place experience. The necessity to link work experience with learning will encourage you to apply research to real world contexts.Embedding employability/ personal development planning /Scholarship Skills LOs 1-3: Module content centres on personal development planning and reflection on employability skills. The three key employability skills that are embedded and assessed through the portfolio are: knowledge of working practices; critical reflective skills; problem-solving skills.
Formative assessments will be in the form of discussions during the face to face sessions, module engagement and interaction with the academic supervisors.
The module contains two pieces of summative assessments. The first is a learning agreement where you will negotiate with the employer and the academic supervisor the terms of the placement and the learning outcomes (LO1, LO2). The second assessment is a portfolio which will contain a a critical analysis and a reflective evaluation of the application of theory to practice (LO2, LO3).
