Assessment
Type of Assessment Weighting % LOs covered Week due Length in Hours/Words Description
Class Test 10 1~2~3~4 12 HOURS= 2.5 hours You are required to complete a short online test at the end of each of the ten units of learning.
Report 90 1~2~3~4 13 , WORDS= 2000 words. You are asked to design an evidence based solution to a question or problem identified in your coaching practice or athletic experience. You will firstly need to reflect on your experience and think of a question or problem that you think, if answered, would add value to your work, practice or athletic experience. Your question/problem needs to fall into one of the weekly topics of this module. That is 1) Nature-nurture; 2) Talent identification and selection; 3) Relative age effect; 4) Understanding the relevance of maturation & ‘windows of opportunity’ in talent development; 5) The influence of early experiences on talent development; 6) Transitions, dual career & drop out; 7) The role of psychology & challenge in effective talent development; 8) Building effective talent development environments; 9) The coach-athlete relationship and supporting the development of motivated and confident athletes; or 10) The role of significant others in the talent development process. You then need to collate 5 peer review, empirically based research articles that will, as a group of papers, best help you to provide an evidence based solution to this question/problem. Finally, you need to outline the key elements of the papers, to enable you to describe an evidence based, practical plan, which would help provide a solution for the question or problem you identified.
