Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) Approach: |
This module is a student - centred learning module, tailored, through negotiation to their area of practice. The student is expected to critically reflect on their professional practice and identify an aspect(s) which they need to develop to a Post Graduate level. They will then negotiate and agree, with their employer / mentor and a University based academic, a personal set of learning outcomes and complete a Learning Action plan indicating how their learning outcomes will be met (LO1). A portfolio of evidence will be developed to demonstrate reflection on their practice (LO2) and evidence of critical engagement with the work-based learning process (LO3).Evidence of engagement with others in the workplace to achieve the learning outcomes will be demonstrated by the student’s ability to communicate professionally and network appropriately (LOs1-3)).N.B The Learning Agreement must be approved prior to the students’ embarking upon its implementation. To ensure equity and consistency of approach a panel made up from the Module Team (Edinburgh Napier and employer / mentor) will consider and approves each student’s Learning Agreement. The constraints operating in relation to the Learning Agreement are that learning outcomes written by the student are deemed to be at level 11 SCQF; that the work is consistent with the philosophy of the award on which the student is registered; that the level of work produced to achieve the learning outcomes must be at SCQF level 11.
Formative feedback is provide by the module team which will help the student to develop a more focused and achievable portfolio.
The summative assessment has two parts: Part one is a 500 word Learning Agreement submitted in week 4 of the module.Part two of the summative assessment is a Learning Portfolio submitted in week 14 of the module. The Learning Portfolio which will include the Learning Agreement must evidence that all the student’s learning outcomes have been achieved as specified in their Learning Agreement. The portfolio should contain information about how the evidence, which may be presented in a range of media, clearly demonstrates how the question, problem or issue was conceptualised, delimited and addressed. The steps taken to gather information about it and how strategies were developed and tested. There should also contain a significant reflective element.
