Description of module content:

You will as a Graduate Apprentice undertake a wide range of tasks during your employment in context relevant to your role. You will learn about the importance of team working within organisations and develop the necessary skills to be an effective team player. You will also learn key management skills such as problem solving techniques, organising methods and decision-making. During the module report writing and presentation skills will also be developed. You will also further develop the skills necessary to keep a professional log/journal of your workplace activities and the methods of reflection which will help you to develop.
You will develop a deeper understanding of your own personal and professional development and how this can be of benefit to your organisation. You will give a presentation. You will peer assess each other’s presentations to provide constructive and meaningful feedback allowing reflection on your own communication and professional practices. You will be expected to keep a reflective log of your work to aid the production of the report which apply learning from the course in your workplace, reflecting on its application and evaluating results. Formative feedback will be given on your reflective log during weeks 5 to 6 and workplace visits. The report will outline employment-related and personal objectives.

The module will allow you the opportunity to discuss and demonstrate your professional practice in the workplace, building upon the knowledge learnt in the graduate apprentice workplace and previous university modules. This module integrates your learning from the workplace and university. The learning outcomes assess your knowledge and skills appropriate to your work-place with an emphasis on the development of business, technology and soft skills. This module is designed to develop critical reflective practice, skills and attitudes, and act as a focus for your continuous professional development.

The module will allow you the opportunity to discuss and demonstrate their professional practice in the workplace.

Upon completion of this module you will be able to
LO1: Assess and apply computing and IT skills to develop solutions in the workplace.
LO2: Use a range of skills to support team-working, decision-making, time management and communication skills in the workplace.
LO3: Manage under guidance a range of work appropriate to your role over an extended period using critical reflection, identify and evaluate, areas of growth and future developments.
LO4: Undertake critical analysis, evaluation and/or synthesis of professional and technical achievements taking into consideration ethical and professional issues.
LO5: Demonstrate sound understanding of organisational performance, market place position and future opportunities.
