Description of module content:

This module introduces key concepts and practices in International Business, focusing on the globalisation of the world economy and the challenges of political, economic, cultural, and ethical risks. You will study topics such as the international competitive environment, and the impact of economic agreements and regional integration on global trade. The module also covers foreign direct investment from both home and host country perspectives, foreign market entry strategies including joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions, as well as international business strategy and structure. It further explores essential areas such as international human resource management, international marketing, and international entrepreneurship, providing a solid foundation for understanding how businesses operate in a global context.

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Evaluate the key factors shaping contemporary trends in global trade, investment, and competition, with an emphasis on post-globalisation developments.

LO2: Identify and critically analyse the opportunities and challenges present in the dynamic international business environment, including geopolitical, cultural, and technological factors.

LO3: Assess the applicability of international trade, investment, and competition theories to current business and management issues, incorporating perspectives from governments, Multinational Enterprises (MNEs), and emerging market firms.
