The role and nature of operations management; objectives of operations and their impact on organisational performance; conflict between objectives and the development of operations strategy; types of operation and operational characteristics; layout for different operations; product / service & process design; inventory management; capacity management; scheduling – planning and control of operations; JIT and lean production; quality management and business improvement; logistics & supply chain management; global supply chains.
