Stages in the Strategic Management Process
Analysing the External Environment: the macro-environment, industry and competitor analysis.
Assessing the organisation’s resources, capabilities and core competencies. SWOT analysis.
Business-Level strategy: achieving and sustaining competitive advantage.
Directions of growth and Corporate Level strategy
International strategy choices
Strategic development methods: organic development alliances and mergers and acquisitions.
Alternative approaches to strategic decision- making: planned and emergent strategy.

Learning Outcomes for module:

LO1: Discuss what is meant by strategic management and the different levels and approaches to strategic decision making

LO2. Analyse the relationship between the organisation's environment, resource position and strategic choice and evaluate alternative strategies and directions/methods of development open to organisations

LO3. Identify, analyse and formulate solutions to problems through application of a range of strategic management frameworks to current situations and published case studies
