Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) Approach: |
Learning & teaching methods including their alignment to LOsStudents receive individual guidance and support to undertake the independent learning that is characteristic of a dissertation.Embedding of employability/ PDP/ scholarship skillsEmployability is developed through research based study of a particular problem and in the development of skills to retrieval, analyse and communication of findings. The nature of the module allows students to undertake an investigation which might be relate to their future employment.AssessmentProducing the dissertation addresses learning outcomes 1 to 5. Research/ teaching linkagesStudents are exposed to the latest development in the subject matter as part of the learning process and are required to access research papers etc as part of their assessment and class exercise group work. Current staff research and knowledge transfer activities are relevant to the module content. Supporting equality and diversity : Material is provided on webct and is also available in hard copy.Module content is in effect designed and selected by the individual student and so it is inherent that individual needs will be met. Disabled students will have appropriate adjustments made to enable them to participate fully in the module learning.Internationalisation : Internationalisation : The module content is flexible and depending on the student’s choice of topic can be internationally based. In previous versions of the module a wide range of students from all nationalities were attracted to the module and they can participate by bringing their own national perspectives on relevant aspects of the subject matter. The skills of research are also generic and not confined to international boundaries, though the cultural context of understanding and meaning is important and this will be discussed in classes.
