Description of module content:

The Independent Analytics Project is a core component of the MSc Business Analytics with AI programme. It provides you with the opportunity to undertake a substantial piece of independent work focused on a real business problem or issue. You can choose your own topic or work with one provided by an organisation. Either way, you will be working with real datasets and applying the analytical techniques and modelling approaches you have developed during the programme. The project begins with selecting a suitable topic and obtaining approval from your supervisor. You will then design and execute a structured project plan, drawing on relevant information sources and managing your time effectively. Regular engagement with your supervisor is important, as they will offer guidance and feedback; however, responsibility for driving the project forward rests with you. The project culminates in a professionally written and clearly presented report. This experience is designed to assess your ability to apply analytics in a real-world context. While challenging, it is also highly rewarding, allowing you to integrate your learning and demonstrate your readiness for a career in business analytics and AI.Success requires both strong technical capability and the right mindset. You will need to think critically and creatively, develop appropriate analytical models, and work independently while managing your time effectively. You must also be confident working with large datasets and prepared to navigate the uncertainty and complexity that characterise real-world analytics projects.
