Description of module content:

The key subject of knowledge and skills revolves around:

Research Skills for Managers: Introduction to business management research, including;
Research planning;
Research design;
Qualitative research methods and data analysis;
Quantitative research methods and data analysis;
Post-research completion issues and putting your research into action

Application of practice-based learning and personal development; use in the workplace when undertaking a major project.

The subject of the Practice Report and the specific aim(s) and learning outcomes arising from it will be unique to each individual participant. The negotiation of the Proposal will be between you and your university tutor/ academic supervisor. The Proposal will identify:
• the scope of the Report
• the specific aims unique to the report, and
• the methods by which the outcomes will be achieved.

Learning Outcomes for module:

LO1: Identify appropriate techniques to allow detailed investigation into relevant business or professional issues
LO2: Identify outcomes relevant to professional practice that will result from the evidence-based report addressing the identified strategic issue(s)
LO3: Critically review and be able to use existing theories and research and scholarship to identify innovative or revised approaches to business and management practice.
LO4: Acquire and analyse data and information, to evaluate their relevance and validity, and to synthesise a range of information in the context of the issues
LO5: Present findings and recommendations to academic and management/commercial audiences through reports as part of the overall practice.
