Description of module content:

This module provides you with the opportunity to integrate your academic learning with real-world work experience, enabling you to apply business and management theory to practical workplace challenges. As a Graduate Apprentice, you will undertake a range of tasks relevant to your role, giving context and authenticity to your academic development.You will explore themes such as reflective writing, presentation skills, and organisational performance, using modules completed to date as a lens to evaluate both your organisation’s context and your own personal and professional development. Through sustained engagement in the workplace, you will develop essential professional and technical skills, including adaptability, teamworking, communication, time management, and ethical awareness.The module supports both structured and self-directed learning, encouraging you to take increasing responsibility for your development and to reflect critically on your achievements, challenges, and contributions. It also introduces foundational skills in problem solving, knowledge base use, and boundary definition; these skills which are necessary for future project work across the programme.Designed as a focus for your continuous professional development, this module enables you to demonstrate and discuss your professional practice and performance, while building the skills, attitudes, and reflective mindset needed to contribute meaningfully to your organisation and to prepare for more advanced academic and workplace challenges.

Learning Outcomes for module:

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Demonstrate a knowledge of business and management theory and apply it to practical problems in the workplace including where situations are ambiguous.

LO2: Identify and apply appropriate skills to support team-working, decision-making, time management and communication skills in the workplace.

Oral Presentation 15 1~2~5 Week 13 HOURS= 15 minutes A narrated PowerPoint or oral presentation (format determined through a personal skills audit) outlining the proposed workplace project. This includes aims, rationale, and initial context. (Trimester 1)
Reflective Log 50 1~3~4~5 Week 12 , WORDS= 3500 A critical reflection using relevant theory on your technical, personal, and professional development over the year, including ethical considerations and skills growth. (Trimester 3)
Practical Skills Assessment 5 2~4 Week 13 HOURS= 300 words As a companion to your narrated PowerPoint/oral presentation, you will submit a reflective statement demonstrating how you have used generative AI tools (as directed by the module leader and adhering to ethical guidelines) to create a parallel project plan. You must include at least one distinct AI prompt to refine the project boundary, and critically reflect upon the outputs with your own project plan considering similarities, differences, and limitations of the AI-generated content. (Trimester 1)
