Description of module content:

The Applied Honours Project will offer you an alternative, business focused project from the dissertation. The project will focus on solving specific, real-world problems within a business setting, using existing knowledge gained throughout the undergraduate degree to develop actionable solutions and directly improve practices, products, or services within an organisation/industry related to your degree.

Face To Face Lecture 20 You will attend weekly lectures in tri 1 designed to introduce you to the project, and its methods of assessment, the topics of focus within the project each year and to analysis of both qualitative and quantitative secondary data.
Face To Face Seminar 6 You will attend a series of subject group workshops with subject coordinators during trimester 1. Within these you will receive and work with subject specific data packages and possible areas of focus for the project.
Face To Face Practical classes and workshops 8 You will attend a series of compulsory check-in tutorials in trimester 2 to discuss your progress with the project and to offer you the opportunity to ask questions and gain feedback on your work.
Online Guided independent study 366 You will work independently toward the submission of your Project Proposal and Reflective Report.

Project - Written 20 1~2~4 Week 8 , WORDS= 2500 words A 2500-word project plan to contain: Problem identification and subject area contextualisation; Key terms of reference (and academic frameworks, models and theories) to be used within the project; discussion of method of analysis to be used; and a project timeline (Gantt chart).To be submitted in week 8 of trimester 1.
Project - Written 60 1~2~3~4 Week 12 , WORDS= 8000 words Utilising the data/case study supplied you will produce a 8000-word business report which address the focus of your applied project and incorporates the resources in a manner designed to answer the questions formulated within the project plan You will submit a business report that will expand the initial discussion undertaken in your plan and include: Executive summary, Introduction & problem formulation, critical discussion of key terms or reference: theories, models and frameworks; Methods of analysis; Findings, analysis and discussion; Proposed solutions/recommendations.This component will be submitted in week 12 of tri 2.
Oral Presentation 20 4 Exam Period HOURS= 10-20 mins An in person, professional learning conversation to take place in tri 2 (weeks 14 & 15), where you will answer several pre-set questions (likely 3 of 6) provided by the ML at the end of tri 1. Questions will focus on you a) reflecting on your learning within your applied honours project submission and addressing how these relate to your future employment/employability within your chosen industry. And b) addressing questions relating to your submission and analysis of data and conclusions drawn within your submission. There will then be an opportunity for examiners to ask additional questions which relate directly to the submission after the pre-set questions have been answered.
