Description of module content:

This module broadly considers a range of factors focused on event safety and security these include, an understanding of the safety and security context events operate in, current Occupational Health and Safety legislation, licensing and insurance as it relates to the event industry; risk identification, assessment, management and monitoring; crowd management including how the crowded space is managed, the science of the crowded space and how this relates to human behaviour; the emergency phases and their relationship with the crowded space; decision making processes in high adrenaline working environment such as events, and how we apply effective event safety and security and dynamic principles to events and festivals in real time. The module also focuses on risk mitigation, contingency planning, business continuity and current thinking on this developing area.

Learning Outcomes for module:

LO1: Evaluate and critically assess the theoretical concepts explored in the module and to be able to apply these concepts in the event workplace
LO2: Synthesize the key concepts promoted in the module by delivering clear decision making aptitude throughout the applied delivery
LO3: Critically appraise the leadership styles denoted in the module to show a clear understanding of their use in all aspects of crowded space management
