Description of module content:

The healthcare landscape is increasingly complex, with rising demands for efficient, effective, and sustainable solutions to address public health challenges. In this context, continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Leadership and Collaborative Working is not just an enhancement to a health professional's skillset but a critical necessity in the field of public health. This CPD initiative aims to equip health professionals with the necessary tools and approaches to lead effectively, collaborate across sectors, and drive positive outcomes for population health objectives.This is a short CPD programme, that will offer you the knowledge and skills necessary to lead and work collaboratively with multi-professional, muti-agency teams to design, deliver and implement public health interventions at the community/population level. You will receive a certificate that can be used to evidence your continuing professional development for your own professional bodies.

Learning Outcomes for module:

Upon completion of this module you will be able to

LO1: Gain an understanding of the key concepts and theories of leadership and collaboration in the public health context

LO2: Develop an awareness of skills that can be applied to lead and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, organisations and other professionals in different contexts i.e. community development, health promotion projects, health services and emergency planning

LO3: Distinguish and explore between different models for planning, implementing, leading and evaluating public health projects and their application to public health practice at the individual and population level

LO4: Gain knowledge and understanding of the strategies that can be applied to enhance critical skills in facilitating, negotiating and influencing public health approaches.

LO5: To recognise and understand the importance of the contribution made by a range of professionals (partnership working) to the development and provision of public health services for health improvement

The module is presented in five units with each unit covering one topic. You are required to work through the workbooks within these units and complete the questions at the end of each unit. The questions require a 50% pass mark which will then open the next unit for you to complete.Once all five units are complete the final assessment will comprise of a set of questions covering all topics in the module. The final assessment also requires a 50% pass mark to complete the module and release the certificate of completion. This certificate can be used for your own professional CPD records.The units are interactive and have weblinks with resources to support your learning. We recommend that you engage with all content to enhance your learning. Content should take 8-10 hours to complete but we have allowed access to the module for 8 weeks as we are aware many of you taking this CPD Module will also be working in practice whilst undertaking this.
